- Notes - Photo shows the Basilica del Santo Niño in Cebu. It is the first monastery in the Philippines, founded by Fray Andres de Urdaneta in 1565. Enshrined in the church is the wooden image of the Child Jesus, the Señor Santo Niño, which Ferdinand Magellan gave as a baptismal gift to the wife of Rajah Humabon, the chief of the island of Cebu, in 1521.
