| General Note |
- General note - Restored facade of original church built in 1854 which fronts the town plaza. The municipality of Dumanjug, located 74.3 kms. southwest of Cebu City, was the center of resistance against the Japanese in Cebu. It got its name from one of the 3 brothers who settled in the locality centuries ago-Binonga, Dumanjug, and Yong-yong. In 1855, the first municipal government was organized with Pedro Ricamora and the Rev. Agustin Melgar as leaders. The first to occupy the position of "goberna-dorcillo" was Juan Jakosalem. Rev. Matias Godinez was the first parish priest. A revolutionary government was established on December 16, 1898, with Pedro Noel as mayor. He was appointed by General Arcadio Maxilom, rebel leader of Cebu. Under the civil government of the U.S., Domingo Albino became the first municipal President on Dec. 1, 1898. During the Japanese occupation, a garrison was established at the poblacion. After liberation, Jose Macoy was the first elected municipal executive. YYY
