| General Note |
- General note - This stone and brick church, semi-Gothic in style, was constructed in 1834. Malabuyoc, 126 kms. southwest of Cebu City, is famous for its fruit trees, like mango, lanzones, cacao, and others. When in fruit, the branches of these trees bend down, and the Visayan term for this is "buyoc". When the Spaniards first went to the village, they were offered some of these fruits to eat. Some suffered a stomach ache and as a result the Spaniards called the place "Mala Buyoc". YYY
