- General note - This church was built in 1784. The municipality of Samboan is perched on top of a hill with a commanding view of the sea below. Said to be one of the oldest towns in the south, it is located at the southwestern tip of Cebu province, 140 kms. from Cebu City. It is hilly region with narrow, coastal lands; territorial limits measures approximately 9 kms. in length and 6 kms. in width. Samboan''s former territorial limits included the towns of Oslob and Alegria. The name Samboan came from the tern "Sinamboang", which means trap fishing. YYY
