| General Note |
- General note - Barotac Nuevo was established as a town in 1710. It was declared as an independent parish in 1810 and its first titular patron was San Francisco de Asis. It was later changed to San Antonio de Padua. Photo shows the neo-classic church of St. Francis of Assisi, made of solid stone blocks. It was solemnly blessed on December 24, 1893. (Source: Angels in Stone, Fr. Pedro Galende, O.S.A., 1996) Another neo-classic structure in the province of Iloilo is the church of Barotac Nuevo which is about 34 kilometers from the provincial capital. Fr. Eustaquio Torres constructed the church of wood and hewn stone in 1882. Barotac Nuevo was established as a town in 1710 and as a parish in 1810. The Augustinians were placed in charge in 1833. YYY
