| General Note |
- General note - Photo shows the Dingle church facade, one of Iloilo''s prettiest. The church was built of yellow sandstone by the Augustinian friar, Melquiades Arizmendi, who was parish priest from 1876 to 1887. The pediment, a few meters below the nave roof, has S-curved outlines. Dingle was formerly called Baong, a small community which formed a single parish with Pototan until 1611. It was nearly depopulated because of the incursion of the Atis (Panay Negritos) and subsequently made a mere visita of Dumangas, although it was allowed to keep its own priest. Later it became an annex of Laglag (1641). It was established finally as an independent parish in 1850 after it was transferred to a new location. YYY
