General Note
  • General note - Formerly called Salog, the town is located on plain and fertile land by a river of the same name. Jaro was once a mere visita of Arevalo until 1587 when it was established as a separate parish by the Augustinians. Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria or Our Lady of Purification was later named patroness of the parish. Shown is the cathedral of Jaro, dedicated to Our Lady. (Source: Angels in Stone, Fr.
