| General Note |
- General note - Facade of the parish church of San Jose in Iloilo city, built by the Augustinian friar Mauricio Blanco in 1873. Neo-classic in the symmetrical arrangement of its decorative features, especially on the facade, the church is characteristically Gothic-inspired, Fr. Blanco installed a clock (left) and a barometer (no longer working) on the second stages of the four-tiered bell towers flanking the pyramidal facade. The parish of San Jose was a mere visita of La Villa de Arevalo until 1760 when the Dominicans took charge of the parish independently of the Jaro diocese. It was turned over to the diocese after 7 years and the Augustinians, nearly a century later, took over it in 1868. Aside from the church, the convent and the parish graveyard was improved and enlarged by Fr. Mauricio Blanco who came in 1873. YYY
