- Title - Binondo Church, 1860
|
| General Note |
- General note - Accepted by the Dominican Order on June 19, 1596, the church and convent of Binondo was the nucleus of the spiritual ministry of the Catholic Chinese and indios in Binondo for generations. Presumably made of light materials at the onset, the church was rebuilt in stone and was inaugurated in 1606. By the eighteenth century, the church of Binondo was established as one of the pueblo''s major structures. In 1740, the old church was demolished to give way to a new structure which was completed in 1749 and dedicated to Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary.
