- Title - Paco Cemetery Chapel
|
| General Note |
- General note - Photo shows the chapel inside the Paco cemetery in Manila. Located at the intersection of the old Calle de Paco and Calle de San Catauna (now Padre Faura and General Luna Streets), the graveyard was constructed by virtue of an administrative order issued in 1807, following a cholera epidemic which ravaged Manila late in the 18th century. Don Jose Coll supervised its construction which was finished in 1822. Inside the chapel is the mausoleum of Governor General Ramon Solano. The remains of national hero Dr. Jose Rizal was interred in the cemetery from December 30, 1896 to December 29, 1912, before it was transfered to Luneta. Photo reproduced in 1971. YYY
