- General note - Photo in 1902 of the Santa Cruz church in Manila, rebuilt in 1868 of stone and wood, after the earthquake of 1863 had destroyed the earlier edifice. This church is the Eucharistic Shrine of the Philippines and also the shrine of Our Lady of the Pillar. The present Santa Cruz church was built mainly through the efforts of Father Lucio Garcia, parish priest from 1939 to 1956. On August 15, 1957, the Blessed Sacrament Fathers began administering the parish at the invitation of the Archbishop of Manila. YYY
