| General Note |
- General note - Walls some 5 to 6 feet thick are all that remain after the eruption. Built by the Recollect friars in the early 1600s, the church and its adjoining convent were constructed of limestone. Before the eruption, Catarman used to be a populous town. Da-an volcano exploded on May 1, 1871. The old town, renamed Bonbon or "sandy place", has been abandoned and the poblacion transferred to the sitio formerly called Guiob, some 300 meters from the town of Old Catarman. (also see CH00835)
