| General Note |
- General note - This edifice was built by Fr. Pedro Chivite. San Carlos used to be a barrio of Calatrava town. Late in 1898, the parish priest told the community that their barrio would be converted into a town, named in honor of Saint Carlos Borromeo, patron of the barrio. From that time on, as the sugar industry thrived, the town prospered. Reps. Vicente F. Gustilo, Inocencio J. Ferrer and Agustin Gatuslao, authored Republic Act No. 2643 approved on June 18, 1960, making Silay a city of the same year was formally organized.
