- General note - The Dominican Provincial Chapter accepted Aguilar as a mission house in 1810 and placed it under the patronage of Saint Joseph. Fr. Benito Sanchez constructed the stone church, which was completed on July 4, 1853. The bell tower was finished later in 1875 under Fr. Juan Cordova.
