- Notes - The earliest Christian mission in Manaoag was established by the Augustinians between 1595 and 1600. The mission was later transfered to the care of the Dominicans. Fr. Juan de San Jacinto built a chapel made of light materials on top of a hill, where an ivory image of Our Lady of the Rosary was enshrined. This small chapel has evolved to become the beautiful shrine that it is today, which is currently one of the country''s most popular pilgrimage sites.
