| General Note |
- General note - Photo of the single-nave interior of the cathedral shows frescoed walls and ceiling. Although the parish of Lucena was established only in 1881 - one of the last parishes established by the Franciscans in the province - it was chosen to be the diocesan seat upon the creation of the bishopric on March 23, 1950. The diocese embraces the southern part of Quezon (i.e., excluding the sub-province of Aurora in the north) and Marinduque Island. Before its creation, Quezon and Marinduque belonged to the Diocese of Lipa, from which they separated on August 12, 1950. Still prior to this, they were under the ecclesiastical jurisdiction of the Archdiocese of Caceres, from August 14, 1595 until April 10, 1910. (also see CH01063) YYY
