| General Note |
- General note - The Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage in Antipolo. The miraculous image of Our Lady arrived in 1626 on a ship which sailed from Acapulco to Manila. Several times, the statue crossed the Pacific as the patroness of the galleon trade, invoked for safety on the sea and propitious arrival at the ports. Hence, she was given the title "Nuestra Senora de la Paz y Buen Viaje". The original church was built on top of a hill by the Jesuits in 1632. (Source: Antipolo: A Shrine to Our Lady, Monina Mercado, 1980) This round church designed by Architect Fernando Ocampo was built in 1948 during the campaign for a new Antipolo shrine headed by the late Mrs. Aurora Quezon. The first Antipolo shrine was a stone church on top of a hill, destroyed during the Japanese occupation. The second building after the war was a makeshift wooden frame.YYY
