| General Note |
- General note - Zumarraga used to be a visita of Catbalogan and was called Buad before it assumed an independent status on March 13, 1863. Situated at 11° 35'' 40" latitude, Zumarraga is a plain on the western coast of an islet that bears the old name of the town. Surrounding the islet are the waters of Zumarraga Channel and Villareal Bay. The first church, which was made of wood and dedicated to San Antonio de Padua, was constructed in 1845 under the direction of Fray Martin de Yepes. By 1865, Zumarraga had a wooden casa tribunal and a school house.YYY
