- General note - The base of the main altar is decorated with ex-votos which were cut out of thin sheets of silver with foliate and floral designs. The insignia of the Augustinian Recollect Fathers who built this church being the transfixed heart, most of the ex-votos are formalized representations of hearts. The art of the ex-voto existed shortly in the south and is still very much alive in Ilocos. They are also used to decorate calesas. (also see CH01252) YYY
