| General Note |
- General note - The parish of San Jose was established in 1767 and placed under the administration of the Augustinians. A small church was built around 1788. Fray Manuel Blanco, the eminent botanist, was assigned in San Jose in the early years of the 19th century. He began the construction of the convent and the present church, but left without seeing its completion in 1816. (Source: Batangas Forged in Fire, Ayala Foundation, Inc., 2002) YYY
