| General Note |
- General note - National Artist for Visual Arts, Victorio C. Edades, is immortalized in this feature documentary about his life and works. As a painter, Edades is recognized for revolutionizing the art of modern painting, thus earning for himself the title of "Father of Philippine Modern Art." A son of peasant farmers, he grew up during the American period. With little money, Eades left fot the U.S.A. in order to pursue a formal training in painting. When he returned to the Philippines together with his American wife, Jean, he became disappointed to find that very few appreciated his modernist ideas on art. He was also criticized in the newspapers. His work with the Japanese military during World War II further served to alienate him from the general Philippine society that accused him as a war collaborator. Edades, however, continued his crusade to bring modernism to Philippine Art by being a teacher and dean of the country's first architecture and fine arts colleges. Edades was able to bring forth a new generation of painters who believed and practiced modern art. His legacy to Philippine art is a valuable contribution to the continuing evolution of the country's culture.
