| Summary, Etc. |
- Summary, etc. - "The most popular and considered the most typical of all the songs set to the beautiful poem of Rizal in his immortal novel, "Noli Me Tangere." The song was composed in the mid-twenties and, since then, it became a favorite among our people. It is always sung during Rizal Day programs and other occasions with patriotic significance, especially those connected with the national hero.
Juan de S. Hernandez was one of the most admired composers during his time. Among his many compositions are: "Simoun," an overture; "Piano Concerto in D Minor"; "Auras del Terruno" for violin, violoncello and piano; "Tanging Ligaya Ko," a kundiman; and "Ulila sa Pag-ibig," a danza. Together with Francisco Santiago, Nicanor Abelardo, Francisco Buencamino, Jose A. Estela, and Antonio J. Molina, Hernandez has done much in the preservation and development of Philippine music."
