Hours and Location

 

1. When is the library open?  

We are open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. 

We are closed on lunch break at 12 NN – 1 PM and on Sundays, Mondays, and non-working holidays. Inclement weather may also affect library hours. See our holiday schedule.  

Guests who arrive before lunch break are welcome to return when services resume at 1 PM of the same day. 

 

2. Where is the library located? 

We are located at the 6th floor of the Ayala Museum building along Makati Avenue corner De la Rosa Street in Greenbelt, Makati City, Philippines. Find us on Google Maps.

Admission and Fees 

 

3. Is there a fee to visit the library? 

Yes, there is an admission fee to visit or access the library. The fee is inclusive of Wi-Fi access and charging of devices.  

The Library Day Pass, good for one day, is PHP 300. Discounted rates are applicable to students up to college level (PHP 150); senior citizens or PWD (PHP210); Ayala Museum members, AGC employees, teachers, cultural workers, and graduate students (PHP 240). 

We also offer a Library Research Pass of PHP 3,750 for 30-day access for a period of two months. Discounted rates are applicable to students up to college level (PHP 2,000); senior citizens or PWD (PHP2,600); Ayala Museum members, AGC employees, teachers, cultural workers, and graduate students (PHP 3,000). 

*Rates are valid until September 2024. Applicable valid IDs or proof of eligibility must be presented onsite for validation of discounted rates. 

The following are entitled to FREE admission:

  • Ayala Museum Members – first 10 (individual membership) or 15 (family membership) onsite visits;
  • Children 3 years old and below;
  • Legally blind;
  • Guests eligible for special offers (Check out our social media pages for announcements)

 

4. Are walk-ins allowed or is prior appointment required to visit the library? 

Walk-ins are welcome, but guests are highly encouraged to book an appointment in advance. This allows us to: reserve your slot and preferred seating; ensure that the books you request are accessible; and assist in your research by recommending related titles. 

 

5. Do I need to pay for a museum ticket to visit the library? 

No. You only need to pay the library fee if you are visiting the library only.

6. Is membership required to visit the library?

No. Membership is not required to visit the library but there is an admission fee per visit.

7. Can kids enter the library? 

Yes, kids can enter the library. Children 3 years old and below are entitled to free admission, but must be accompanied by a paying guardian. 

 

8. Can I deposit my big bags? 

Yes, you may deposit your oversized bags or luggage at the Ayala Museum baggage counter at the ground floor. 

 

9. Is there a dress code?

There is no dress code requirement to enter the building, however, we do recommend guests wear jackets or other warm clothing due to the air conditioning inside the library.   

 

10. What do I need to prepare for my library visit?

Please be ready to present a copy of your booking confirmation and applicable valid ID (especially for discounted admission).

We also recommend searching our online catalog to prepare and send us your book list in advance, so we can have the items ready for your visit.  

 

11. Can I bring my own books and materials to the library?

Yes, you may bring your own books and reading materials inside the library. You may also bring your own laptops or tablets.  

However, we do not allow the use of personal scanning equipment to scan or digitize materials from the library collection. Reproduction services are available in the library for a fee.  

Health and Safety 

 

12. What are the library’s Covid-19 safety protocols? 

Guests are encouraged to wear face masks and practice social distancing.   

Persons with a temperature of 37.6 degrees Celsius and above or are exhibiting COVID-related symptoms will not be admitted. If you are feeling any symptoms, you may reschedule your visit by emailing us at asklibrarian@filipinaslibrary.org.ph 

Booking 

 

13. How can I book a library appointment? 

Before you book, please visit our booking page to learn about our library and visitor guidelines. 

*For access to the library space only, book a schedule and pay online. 

*For research purposes and book requests, as well as virtual consultation, fill out the pre-booking form. 

Booking requests will be acknowledged and confirmed via email. 

For urgent requests or concerns, you may contact us via email or chat. We’ll do our best to respond as soon as possible, within business hours. 

 

14. Can I reschedule or cancel my booking? Or can I transfer my booking to another person? 

Yes, you may reschedule your booking to another date. 

You may also cancel your paid booking and have the option to transfer it to another person or get a refund. 

However, you must inform us before the date of your visit by sending an email to asklibrarian@filipinaslibrary.org.ph regarding your concern. Once the date of your booking has lapsed, your payment will be forfeited. 

Facilities and Collections 

 

15. What are the library’s collections? 

The Filipinas Heritage Library is a special library dedicated to books and other materials authored by Filipinos or about the Philippines, with a focus on Philippine history and culture. Visit this page to learn more.  

 

16. Can I borrow books? 

FHL is a non-lending library. Library collections may be accessed within the library premises only. Reproduction services are available for a fee (photocopy and document scanning), subject to copying limits (up to 20% of the material) due to copyright restrictions.

 

17. Is there Wi-Fi access in the library? 

Yes, Wi-Fi access is available and is included in the library admission fee.

 

18. Can I charge my devices in the library? 

Yes, power outlets are available for you to charge your electronic devices in the library. There is no additional fee for this. 

 

19. Are food and drinks allowed in the library? 

No. Food and beverages (except for drinking water in covered container) may NOT be brought inside the library to protect books and library materials. 

If you have a water bottle, you may refill drinking water in the library. 

 

20. Can I take photos inside the library? 

Yes, you may take photos in the library premises. However, taking photos of book pages or library materials may need permission due to certain restrictions. Please approach the librarian on desk for guidance. 

For commercial, media, or documentary photography/filming and related purposes, please seek prior permission by sending an email to asklibrarian@filipinaslibrary.org.ph 

 

21. Does the library have a photocopying or scanning service? 

Yes, the library has photocopying (PHP 2.00 per page/spread) and document scanning (PHP 20.00 per page) services. However, requests are subject to copying limits of up to 20% of the material due to copyright. 

 

22. Is there a venue for rent in the library? 

No. We don’t have event venues available for rent. What we have is a Meeting Room which offers a scenic view of Makati and is ideal for study, work, and discussion. Good for small groups of up to six, as well as individual visitors. The room may be used within library hours and there is a fee of PHP 200 per day, on top of the library admission fee.
